Just renewed my breakdown cover with Motoring Assistance and had a read of the exclusions sections I gave them my reg no which they stated was a Nissan but the exclusion section states no imports , not sure why ?? But there is a chance they will refuse to help me if I break down surely they should not have accepted my reg no in the first place ,over 25 years is also listed mine is a 2003 so not long to go . Any thoughts ??? Have you checked you breakdown cover exclusions section ?

I am with Autoaid, and I think there's slight surcharge for vehicles 10+ years old. They cover me, not the car itself.
But they picked me up on a low loader a year and a bit ago, so unless they changed their policies recently should all be good.

They would be most unlikely to pick up that's it's an import just from the registration. Exclusions are there for a reason and it is almost certain they would refuse to help once they know.
I would phone them to clarify and if they say they are prepared to offer the cover get that in writing. Better than being stranded with no cover.

just reading trustpilot reviews and people are saying they paid but when broke down they would not come out due to more than 15 years old

thanks they have just agreed to refund me luckily I only paid yesterday .

Before I left the UK there were a few companies who refused to cover the Elgrand just due to age, any that would were very expensive. Over here breakdown cover is mandatory and include in vehicle insurance.

It's always the duty of the insured to confirm the terms and conditions are suitable, sales people will flog you anything.

That really surprises me, have had it on other cars before the Elgrand and they have been superb.

This is from their T&Cs:
3. For vehicles over 10 year old, the first £25 of the cost of the providing the Recovery Agent toattend to you and your vehicle. This amount will need to be paid by you direct to the ServiceProvider. This applies to all policies incepted or renewed on or after the 1st March 2023.

Nothing about 15 years, or refusing to help. Maybe they didn't want to pay the excess, which was definitely communicated clearly (to me at least).
Nothing in there about imports, either.

Think next year I will take breakdown cover with my car insurance lest hope its worth having , last breakdown I had with RAC told me 5 hours wait was only the battery ,another time after a crash they told me it's not a breakdown and wanted to charge me £250 for a 1 mile tow ! Seems to be lots of get out clauses these days .

After a lot of research AA seems the best bet ,imports and older cars covered mostly good reviews ,you can cancel online , report a breakdown on your mobile app no need to phone ,location tracking all the things I want .

Sounds good, does it include trips abroad?
