Daughter #2 has just passed her test and wants a "not boring" car.
Usual Aygos, Pandas, C1s etc she really doesn't want.

She's found (and has enough for) a Daihatsu Cuore Kei car.

Has anyone any suggestions for specialist insurers who might entertain this?
Or is she just being totally unrealistic in expectations for year 1?

I bought my Son a 2018 Fiesta 1.3 2door 18months ago, with one owner, service history and 14000mls like new.

He is at Uni and doesn’t use it much, between its last MOTs it had coved 378 miles.

So forget about the price of the car, the last service and MOT, fuel etc.

Let’s just talk insurance - £1275 per annum- he was 18yo on that premium.

Thats £3.37 per mile just for insurance, nothing else.😳

Should have bought him a Grifter - that’s what I had.

First time insurance is a killer ( assuming it was learner insurance until now)
Online list here may help

Wierdly, my daughter was given a really good quote on a Fabia Mk1 VRS, as it comes up as just a 1.9TDI for insurance. She owned a 2007 one for a few years, and loved it before we hade to scrap it for ULEZ.
She likes a manual car, so we got a Honda CR-Z Hybrid which looks cool, but is basically a 1.5 with a bit of mild battery assist, and she still misses the VRs for burning off at the lights. It was a rollerskate on steroids, and totally stock...

If not, maybe a Swift?

Just bought my daughter a Fiat 500, 2013, not my choice of car but insurance cheap as chips, shes been driving since Oct last year, had an Aygo 2006 as first car, new job meant longer commute, little 3 cylinder really didnt like it, got the 1.3 diesel Fiat, insurance cheaper than the Aygo, 1k a year cheaper than a similar Polo or Golf etc.

Already had dpf gutted and mapped out, egr mapped out, hybrid turbo, wastegate mod, filter, pushing around 150 bhp and 200 torques, drives like a go kart, i have aboslutely ragged the shit out of it and its superb, amazed.

Only downside it uses a bit of oil, but hopefully sort that soon

Ever thought about a “classic” ?
Say, an old mx5 / euros ? A vw beetle…older one etc.
I know, I know, but as a classic, age is not such a big penalty I believe.

Excellent idea, buy her a 3 door Sierra Cosworth, that should do it.

need to be 25 for clasic my granddaughter is having the same problem it was going to be £5000 to insure the mk2 polo we built for her even a 2010 polo was £3000 will be looking at a Suzuki Jimney or a Fiat 500 they seem to be the cheapest at the moment

If she wants a Cuore how about a Perodua Kelisa which is basically the same thing and will have a bigger engine?

Daihatsu Sirion (the cute one with all the chrome)?

Nissan Figaro?

Toyota Will Vi?

I would get her to at least try a Suzuki Swift or Splash/Agila or even an original SX4/Sedici.

Ideally if she's taking mates with her get a five door and something with good NCAP.

Just bought my 17 year son in May a 2019 mitsubishi mirage. Really good car has everything he needs and looks decent. Insurance not too bad at the minute as he hasn't passed his test, let's wait and see what I get fleeced for when he does.
