‘‘Tis why I enjoy the Fb Group so much. Sad times now he’s left 😭
🤪😉

Yeah, but I upset too many people and caused more stress than necessary. So until I've sorted my anger management out, I'll just play nicely here :joy:

Yeah it would be funny if you got banned eh Karl:pby yourself.

I reckon I'll struggle to get banned here - the atmosphere isn't conducive to arguments unlike Facebook.

indeed albeit there have been a few close calls recently where international rescue needed to be scrambled:D

Well said Karl. As a few of you know I signed out of the EOC facebook site because of exactly the reasons Karl mentions above, yes I risk loosing business but I was fed up of repeating myself time after time after time because 1- the question asked a day ago was lost or 2- the people that facebook attracts are either not intelligent enough to look things up their selves or 3- are too idle to look things up. Now don't get me wrong I will help anyone out but there is only so much time a day I can talk about Cats, Clocks, Audios, Suspension Bushes, Oil grades etc etc. The info is all in this Forum.

I have spent a lot of time recently ranting and raving on the group Facebook page due to all the members who expect to be spoon fed information.

ElgrandOC was set up and is centered around this forum. This is the central hub, the heart if you will, of the club.

For those who are members of both Facebook/Forum, you will have seen me mention about my frustration with "takers". These are the people who think they have a right to be in a club and a right to have their questions answered.

I would like to clarify this point.

The whole point of setting up ElgrandOC was so that ALL Elgrand owners across the world would have a resource that they could use to keep their car on the road. A place for like minded people to come together to support one another and share their experiences with others. The forum is a repository of information that is free to anyone who wants to use it. If you have no interest in being part of a club, but you want answers to questions, then asking them here (believe it or not) is still contributing to the club. Because the answers given by other members will then be stored and searchable for future owners.

For those people who use Facebook only, they come into the group, ask their questions, get their answers and leave. What does this achieve for the greater community? Nothing. That question is lost in a myriad of other posts never to be seen again after 24 hours. You can't search for it on Google. No one else will ever benefit from that post.

So I would like to take the time to thank every single member of this forum for signing up and posting. Even if you only ever ask questions rather than helping others out, you are still providing a library of material that others will benefit from in the future - and THAT is the spirit of a community, helping others.

So from those of you who have taken the time to join just to ask one question, to those who are here every day and have an unhealthy addiction, thank you for being a part of this club. Every post matters, and every post is appreciated by myself and every other member of this forum.

What time? Sorry this little typo did make me chuckle. Same here....reading through this forum gave me the confidence to take the plunge as well...

I admin on a local site one question asked regularly is what time does the local post office open or close? Why don't they just google local post office on Royal Mail website. But as far as this forum goes it's brilliant and given me hours of info and pleasure. But trouble with Facebook some people don't put brains in gear before asking really dumb questions.

I read this forum and my missus is on the Facebook one, I much prefer this as the Facebook page makes her think that this van is going to be an expensive disaster, I'm trying to tell her there are more folk with no issues with these vans than what that page would have her believe. This forum is full of excellent info and will no doubt be useful for years, unlike a blink and you'll miss it social media page.
Keep it up folks, us newbies appreciate it!👍

I've left many a Facebook group as they can attract the wrong sort at times. I much prefer this forum as a safe space with lots of genuinely nice people on it.

Everyone,
The forum is the place to be. Paying the small sum to be premium is nothing compared to the replies, advice and offers of help. Facebook may be easy to view whilst on that platform but not all people have it. Let us all pay a little and gain loads on here and share as much as possible.
I love this forum and will help anybody, like we all seem to.
Cheers all

Thanks Karl, and some cool shapes there 😉
Looking forward to meeting up with some fellow Grandies at future meets. Bravo for the OC!

After scouring the internet for info on campers I came across this forum. Thanks for such a great forum with lots of info and members that are happy to help..... This helped me make my decision to buy a Nissan Elgrand as I almost bought a Toyota Alphard....... I'm so glad I didn't....... I love my "Ellie" and feel like a kid again wanting to mod my car. It's awesome. Thanks to all that make Elgrand OC forum so great. 👍

I just joined too, and I'm sure it's going to be a great help when I finally get my camper. Thank you one and all.
