So I've done it. Put down a deposit on a new Elgrand. E51 S3 Highway Star Autec High Performance Spec 4WD. This one pretty much has all the features I wanted before buying the original Rider - but I compromised there just to make it happen.

Absolutely adore my S2 Rider, and will be really sorry to see her go. But hope I'm making the right call!

The new one is still in Japan, so the deposit is refundable if, when she arrives, she isn't up to the mark.

Would appreciate any feedback on any common faults/pitfalls with this model that I should keep an eye out for. I'll be honest, I'm sort of looking for an excuse to back out and stick with my current model.

Colin gets recommended here a lot so I'd feel reassured he'd fix any issues before you saw them.

The 360° cameras will save you from low-speed prangs reversing in car parks, those curtains will keep the inside cooler when parked up in the sun... worth it just for those things alone... and it's a stunner with that paint and front skirt/splitter thingy... I'm jealous!

Thanks, Mark

Got my first from Colin and very, very happy with it. It's why I would be so sad to see it go if I decide to commit to this one.

A few things on the carvx report, mainly around body work scratches and dents etc. So will be interesting to see her when she gets into this country

When are you expecting the present to arrive?
