For anyone looking to renew their insurance or you are looking at insurance for your pending arrival, check out GreenLight Insurance. I was recommended to them by @Madfish a few months ago when he renewed as they gave him an exceptional quote.

I have now just renewed my insurance with these guys and they knocked a whopping £300 off my renewal quote from Sky Insurance, who have been the cheapest for me for years by at least £200.

The guy to speak to is Dan Kirrage, he's super helpful and will do his best to give you a good quote.

All you need to do in order to get the 15% off is to tell them that you are a member of ElgrandOC. They will then confirm your membership with the club and deduct the discount from your premium.

Just as a side note, we all know that insurance companies seem to be pot luck, what works for one does not work for everyone, but I am quite confident these guys will be competitive.

So what was your quote after all the deductions Karl???

£446.46 in the end (Plus a bit more for the monthly instalment interest). All mods declared, protected no claims, legal cover, courtesy car, glass cover, No voluntary excess. 8 years NCB and living in a dog shit high risk post code lol. Sky Renewal quote was £750.

EDIT: Mods - TEIN Adjustable Coilovers, Aftermarket Stainless Exhaust, 20" chrome alloys, sound system.

Mine was £350 all in albeit I understand we are all different when it comes to criteria meeting.

My post code is a major factor. Living in a rough area of Hartlepool isn't the best. High crime rates etc. But all said and done, I've never ever had an insurance policy less than £500... so I was fucking buzzing when they told me :joy:

I’ll give them a call next year. Direct Line weren’t so competitive last November at £390. But it was easier to just let it renew automatically.

They didn't come good for me unfortunately. Strangely they won't allow a named driver to have a higher level of cover than the policy holder. Seeing as my wife is a housewife and therefore doesn't commute, I couldn't use the car for the rare occasions I would need to take it to work. They also said that my renewal quote of £405 from Chris Knott was excellent and I should stay where I was. Just rang Chris Knott and managed to get the policy down to £380 so just renewed with them.

I'm only 20 miles from Karl but only paid £340 this year.
I think having no voluntary excess would bump it up quite a bit so £446 isn't too bad.
Hartlepool must be bad. I thought Redcar was bad enough.

@George322 - come to Hartlepool and have a look. You'll quickly see why. I lived in Redcar for a few months in 2016, and it was a big improvement on Hartlepool. But I moved back because the girl I was living with at the time turned psycho and started throwing furniture at me :joy:

i hear good things about greenlight and Dan from some of the other groups I'm on. will have to give him a call in a few months. think i pais £590 last year for the Elgrand and the mini, which isnt too sad but still up £90 on previous year

have used them for few years on my toyota chaser and as soon as I got my Elgrand i insured with them. they love modded motors proper frendly and there easy to chat with.

Just a general question, when you say "member discount" is that for all members of just for Premium members?

This is a general discount for all members, premium and standard.

But, as a standard member, maybe if you save more than £12 on your renewal quote, you could use it to help support the club ;)

Yup, My post code is in he E category.... 2nd from highest risk. Wonder what I'd be if it were an F code.

The lowest risk in the whole of Cleveland is a C :joy:

That's a great point Karl, if the club can save members money on insurance then why not support the club. The reason I ask is that its often the other way round, i.e. clubs only negotiate membership discounts to fully paid-up members.

Currently I pay around £350 but will give them a try at renewal time.

There is a discount section for Premium members, but I've only used it when the company offering discount doesn't want to give a general discount to everyone, which is why there's pretty much nothing in it.

We try and secure discounts for everyone, because I know not everyone want to pay to sign up, but there still has to be some benefit to being a member of a club :)

My area is E*... However as car theft is no longer a crime worthy of investigation (in the eyes of the authorities) its hardly surprising that its becoming a bit of a national epidemic....
