Hi all, just seen this on the jae page..... do we need to rethink our food? Screenshot_2018-08-11-10-52-02.png

These rules are getting ridiculous now!

They're working with the Showground owners to reverse this decision but can't see it happoning tbh.

Gas bbq are allowed so maybe that's something we can look into

I belong to a kit car owners club as well as this one and they have a club gas barbeque and supply burgers, bangers, bacon, eggs, tea, coffee and milk from the club funds, anything else you bring to cook you are free to use the barbeque.maybe that sort of arrangement could work for us too.how does that sound?

Yeah...

We've only just bought a big club BBQ for JAE, unfortunately that's charcoal powered.

Looks like we need to get another one now!

No, the club should be able to manage...

But thanks for the generous offer!! :)

Sod the barbecue, does this mean they are going to properly clamp down on fires!

Just won't be the same without a fire

Just contacted them via facebook, they say it was a decision by the showground health and safety officer to prevent wildfires breaking out, does he not realise gas BBQs have flames PLUS the chance of a gas bottle explosion. I can understand disposable BBQs being banned but not the big ones over 50cm from the ground.

Fire extinguishers and raised bbq are sensible enough requests but to stop charcoal bbq and firepits is ridiculous

Perhaps we should carry out our own health and safety risk assessment when we get there
1) No lighting in the club show area
2) No PA system to warn of any problems or missing children ect

With regards gas BBQs I think the fire brigade would rather put a small grass fire out than tackle a fire involving a gas bottle.
Health and Safety is ruining this country, you wont be able to go for a shit soon without filling in a bloody risk assessment.

People power. If every club stand had one they would not close the whole thing and kick 3000 cars off site

My charcoal BBQ will be in my caravan as we are coming up directly from having a week in Woolacombe mixing it with the T5s

As I was reading ur posts earlier I found myself getting a little jealous as I'm unable to attend this meet, but after reading the most recent posts,,,,well what a load of political crap,NO REAL bbq allowed, crazy shit

Yeah it's a kick in the nuts but we will still make this an awesome weekend for everyone :)
