Can I convert the screens to English?

Is the Xanavi kit still available? Appreciate posts about this are a few years old now and would really love the translated buttons over the stickers

As far as I can tell Xanavi gave up on the Elgrand some time ago.

I've been chasing to see if they can update my satnav version, but they're just not replying.

Not sure if they're compatible, but the Nissan Quest is the US equivalent of the E52 and has the same entertainment system and AV buttons.

Wouldn't be surprised if Xanavi were just repurposing Quest AV controls and selling them on.

Thanks for the great reply! That was my next port of call, tracking down what else may use the same part.

Would also be cool to be able to watch actual TV in the car

Not that hard to do...

Free view can be an issue on the move due to reception so easier to stream video content.

The labels are slightly different on the quest compared to the Japanese translation for the Elgrand

Yeah but the Xanavi custom buttons aren't identical to the translated stickers

How were you able to do this?
It is a Nifty City device https://www.niftycity.shop/collecti...20-apple-carplay-android-auto-oem-integration
I have also bought and installed this, the support was really good. To switch between the normal screen and nifty city device hold the back button. You also have a usb to watch films through.

I can remember when the in-car entertainment was playing eye-spy with my family on car journeys. Then when we got to the destination it was Monopoly, Battleships or chase and adventure. ;-)

Thank you for the info. I imagine new people (like me) coming all the time and asking the same questions must be frustrating. So, thank you again 🙏
Me too

Only series 3 can be converted via firmware update. Stuck rear screen is common usually due to condensation damage.

The screens are standard setup, I fitted a chromecast to the RCA inputs to provide the Google TV operating system controlled by a separate voice control remote mounted to the dashboard. If you have tried the standard car remote to lower the rear screen and the option in the menu and it's physically not opening then it's probably as @LeStempy suggested.
