What's the BHP of your motor? V6 3.5 is 234bhp but mine is more. Taking it on a Dyno next week to find out. Who has more?

No idea. Elgrands don't like dyno's due to the autobox playing silly buggers so you probably won't get an accurate reading but will be interesting to see your results. Why is yours more?

Didn't realise when I bought it but it was built as a track car..upgraded suspension, exhaust, brakes and tuned engine. Drives crap in potholed Yorkshire! Lol!

Be interesting to know what tuning was carried out. Does it have forced induction? Not heard of anything that can be done to the NA engine that brings any significant power gains.

Here we go again...

Rolling road is useless due to the auto box. You'd need a flywheel bhp reading to be accurate.

Also, the standard engine cannot be mapped to more than +10bhp unless major modification (internals/forced induction) has been done.

If it has been majorly modified, please share the information for the club to benefit from. But don't get sucked into sales talk because after 5 years of running this club, I've known of one Elgrand that runs significantly higher bhp and it has a 350z rev up engine and a supercharger bolted to it.

Mad. Mad I tell you. I love just wafting around in the Elgrand - don't hear the engine 25mpg average. I do long runs and live in the middle of nowhere. Get on it a bit - hear the v6 growl - bounce around corners (14 year old HWS suspension) and 15mpg. Cams, air filter and bigger injectors for z350 top end power. You would not have to worry about how comfortable the suspension was as you would be getting out on a regular basis at petrol stations.
In the Elgrand really do not care what would happen once the rev counter passes 4k. Now a supper charger set up for a wollop at tick-over and a huge KN filter for the noise at tick over. Wife might be upset first time she tries reversing onto drive and ends up in the kitchen.

Lol! Have I stirred the hornets nest? As I said.. my technical knowledge of engines is that if I turn a screw in my Landy's engine it can go from 55mph to 57mph 😀 this modern tech confuses me. I will post the results..good or bad..next week after the test

That's HP.. so either
1. The machine was broke
2. He didn't know how to test an Elgrand on a Dyno
3.he realised I was thick and tried to con me. Needed re-mapping.. an extra £400, and as he couldn't even read the original mapping, said I need to buy a licence at £150 for him to read it
It beats a Porsche from a standing start at lights ( not that I would ever do that)
And comments would be helpful!

So he couldn't read the map but knew it needed remapping? Interesting that 🤐

As mentioned before, the Dyno isn't great with the auto box on the Elgrand.

Choices are...wasting more money finding an "expert" to sort it out.. or just piss off Porsche owners and wave my crap flow charts at them when they catch up to me at the next traffic lights! Lol!

From what I can gather the most expensive remap you can buy isn't going to add much in terms of BHP for big gains you need to go the expensive route (supercharger etc)

These vans are quick, for 2 tonne vans, if yours can genuinely beat a Porsche off the line then I'd suggest you let us look at your engine cos something huge has been done to it.

You can't remap the ECU without very specialist equipment which I believe only one place in the UK has, and if you ask them they will tell you it will cost around £100 per horsepower which is a lot for 7bhp. As for out dragging a Porsche, you would likely need around 700bhp for a van of 2 tons which would need twin turbos on a VQ35.

Maybe, but even the slowest Boxter has a 0 to 60 of under 8 seconds so you'd probably need to take all the seats out.

It must be me, I have had “high performance “ motors all my adult life, I sold my bmw z3 3.0i, not a 2.8. That used to go like shit off a shovel to finance the Elgrand, but funnily enough, I find when I get in the Elgrand I turn into a Sunday afternoon driver, and just tootle about, In fact, found myself bollocking her in doors for doing 70 in a sixty, she couldn’t believe it. Must be my age.
