Has anyone managed to fit a permanent Fiamma awning and still fit roof bars for occasional use? Am so confused as to the correct brackets to buy 😆 I’ve found roof bars thanks to another post on here that fit into 3 factory hooks but worried it may interfere with a permanent awning fixture point.

I believe the only way to fit a permanent fiamma awning/canopy is with bespoke brackets which is a hard fit to the roof,as they is no room above windows, some people just have the awning strip which is narrow,
I have 3 roof bars and just had fitted the Fiamma F45s with built in awning strip,
Here's the attachment for the brackets which can only be fitted with roof bars.

Thanks for the reply. Looks good! We’ve just bought roof bars so will probably attach to those with the bracket mentioned, However local fabricator has agreed to look at the van this week and see if he can adapt one for us. Will post a pic if he manages it.

Excellent good luck,
Am sure I have seen fabricated ones done on youtube,
Worth the wait if you can get it done this way,
I would of liked mine hard fitting, but need my roof bars all time,
Only other option for me was to go for a bigger bus,but I can not part with ellie🤣🤣
All the best 👍👍🚘

I have just fitted a 2600 Awning last Sunday, I spent ages trying to figure out the best brackets, but decided that what was on offer wasn’t going to work out as the Awing has to be fully supported at the ends with the manufactures aluminium plates that come with the package, and also in the middle if you buy the 2600 mm size. As the 3 positions where the roof bars fix to the van are fixed points and can’t be changed, and the manufacturer clearly states that the ends of their awning must be supported with the plate provided. The biggest awning that can be fixed safely is the width of the roof bars , My solution was to fix a galvanised C rail that was 2.4 meters long 140mm wide fixed to the roof bar rails with 2 x T slot bolts at each bar, this gave a solid form to them put the 2 end plates and the central plate exactly where the manufacturer insists on. Resulting in the strongest possible fit with no danger of failure.

I tried to post pictures, but the site has changed since last time I posted pictures, can’t figure out how to upload now, pictures would help explain. ????? Ok got it now simple, pay the £12 fee for Premium Membership, No problem I fully support this site,

Save having to explain in writing how strong this system is, the brackets for fitting legs to the wall of a caravan or Motorhome come in the package with the F45s. Model along with the wind out handle and 3 x Aluminium profile plates that bolts on to a wall or my frame in this case

Thanks for the photos, not going to lie the awning causing us the biggest headache at the moment.

Shame you are so far away from Aberlour, as I would have taken on the job or at least supplied you with a full length bracket for you to fit on your choice of awning, I will say that the 3 bar system roof rack from Yogie Ireland, has only been fitted since last summer and it is impossible to get it back off as the Allan key brass head with steel screw system that holds the bracket clip to the roof gutter, well this has all completely rusted already and any attempt to unscrew them just strips the brass head where the Allan key fits, even soaking with WD overnight before trying was useless, I can’t comment on other manufacturers, but just be aware , they are on for life.

I am also very interested in Fiamma awning. Saying that, I am quite concerned about vehicle height and once awning is installed, being unable to get into various car parks, etc.

Is this a problem you have experienced? How much extra height the awning is likely to add?

The awning it’s self the way I have it mounted to the roof bars is only going to add about 25mm to the top of your roof bars and that’s because of the T bolts sticking up as shown in the pictures, I have a solar panel on the rack, and this is the highest level, I don’t have the motor here just now to give exact measurements overall, as it’s off on travels around the islands of West Scotland, but add 125 mm to the height of you roof and that will give you a good idea, then check out some local parking that has barriers and get the average height of them, me personally I would just find the easiest places to park and get on with enjoying the view.

You could sikaflex brackets on, it is incredibly strong but obviously you wouldn’t be able to take them off!
