Got to ask why DAMEscort and yes love my tech have had. Carputers.had one in my 2.8
Dunno really, just always felt the computer route in the car gave much more flexibility and options than most (or any at that time) car stereo. Studying computing at uni now it seems like a good wee project to play about with and if going down the Raspberry Pi route it could work out a fair bit cheaper than anything else on the market in terms of android headunit.

Have to ask............ 2.8? was that a Capri?

I remember installing a system into a friends car for him years ago, Mk4 Escort 4 door with turbo conversion, fitted a Clarion competition head unit and 3 Alpine V12 amps, cant remember what the speakers were now but you couldn't light a lighter in it as we found out when we sat in to set it up lol, by the time it was set up and running properly we noticed it was trying to pop the windows out with every bass note...............great fun. He ended up getting called into the bosses office at his work where we done the install because the factory across the industrial estate (50-100 yards away) had phoned and complained that they couldn't work with the noise lol.

what size screen do you use for the front @Madfish and how do you mount them? Would like to have it mounted in the standard head unit position and from what i've seen so far it would need to have hdmi socket.

Just thought you was a escort fan.love the mk 1 but ultimate is mk rs 2000
unfortunately i only had Mk4's, 4 door hatch and an estate which i rebuilt the engine in and ported n polished the head (1.6 cvh) and run it through a 1.3 gearbox, used to give loads of folk a fright to about 80 when it started running out of puff lol. Loved the Mk2, helped a friend build a rally car, doing all the group 4 upgrades to it. Favourite Capri was the 280 Brooklands, loved that car ever since I saw one (must have been in the 90's) in a magazine running a cosworth engine and 4wd.

It's an 8in lilliput hdmi touchscreen 16:9, I can get the model. Number if it helps...

Its mounted in the original head unit position

Basically had to strip the screen from its casing and custom fabricate some mounts to attach it to the back of the trim panel...

Been on their site having a look :) noticed they actually have open frame monitors, went to have a look at them after looking at the other ones available ( was looking at their 4k 7", looks good for £139), couldn't believe it when i found out that the open frame ones are almost twice the price ???? wtf, would of thought that them not having to supply it in a pretty case would have made it cheaper lol. Some decent looking options there tho, thanks.
