Elgrands float!

Just finished a great trip.
Thousands of miles no hiccups with the Elgrand.
Stayed in the bus every night but unfortunately got ill - thundering headaches, coughing, wheezing, flushes all sorts.
Not good.
After waking up again at 4am lastnight with a 'one eye flickering' head banging banger - I sussed it out!
Carbon Dioxide poisoning!
Don't laugh.
The Elgrands are not designed to be slept in.
They are insulated and isolated from the outside to nearly 100%!
Think - they float after tsunamis!
Don't make the same mistake - easy fix - just crack a window open.

Yep all camper vans I’ve had have had plenty of extra ventilation added (and no insulation to speak of as ventilation would render it almost pointless). Usually a permanent roof vent or two and one at floor level too (absolutely necessary if lp gas appliances are installed).

I think being deaf in any ear is good to avoid nagging partner 🤪

Back to thread now good point we’ll made and my window will now be left open (just a little) roll on summer nights camping 💤💤💤

Looked into it a bit more now.
A (effectively) sealed box the size of an Elgrand will be ok for 4-5 hours.
After that the air can be classed as bad.
It's poisoning you!
2 people = half the time.
Banging on a bit coz I lost 2 days!
It was fing horrible.

Would this be the same if you were driving with the Aircon on? I ask as the point in Aircon is you don't open windows.

Good call Phil.
But these are for Carbon Monoxide.
Produced when you burn things.
Some nutters do do that in the vans!
I'm on about Carbon Monoxide ........ purely caused by my own shitty breath!
Just crack a window open.
Job done.

I'd be interested to know just how air tight the elgrand is? Most cars I've had have had some form of basic ventilation, normally in the boot area behind the trim...
